Live as if Every Moment… You Were a Muppet

Posted by , under NOTEBOOK

It’s easy to fall into routines. Routines are useful, but they can also wear ruts into the path of anyone’s life. It can be hard to stop and smell the roses or do our thinking outside of boxes. This is all too true for parents. Boxes are all that keeps us from drowning in books and toys, and roses don’t cover up the stench of dirty diapers.

So, let’s look to the Muppets for some inspiration. Wait, what? Yep!

Live like you were a Muppet

Maybe you shouldn’t try cooking like you’re the Swedish Chef (kids are picky enough without your culinary creations squirming off the table), but you get the idea, right? You may want to use something OTHER than a cannon, but leap at your goals like Gonzo! Fozzie’s got the right idea, always trying lighten everyone up. Wocka, wocka!

Sometimes you do need to go with the tried and true, but when “sometimes” becomes “always” you wind up in Yawnsville, Boringlandia. The folks at Toyota know this. So, they got together with the Muppets for this year’s Big Game Day commercial extravaganza. And it goes a little something like this…

In your life’s journeys, remember to take the road less travelled. You may not run into the Muppets, but you may have as much fun as them.

Disclosure: We’d like to think that Toyota thought HowToBeADad.com was non-boring enough to sponsor us to create this post for you, so you can live life the Muppet way, and leave boredom in the dust. Or maybe they just mistook us for the human equivalent of Muppets. We’re thrilled either way.

  1. Love how the powers that be rebooted The Muppets with the most recent film. They should be timeless, and it’s reassuring as a dad to see my kids embrace the new film like I did the old timey TV show.

There’s nothing better than watching your kids enjoy the same things you were obsessed with as a kid! I mean, besides learning, conquering fears, eating new foods, learning a skill, performing, showing you affection… you get the idea. ;)

  2. Brent Almond says:

Andy, did you draw these Muppets, or did they supply you with the graphics? Just curious.
