Sometimes I wish I had more definable skills when it came to crafts. Specifically, I wish I could make better costumes and props for my kids. I love playing with my boys, and Halloween is my favorite holiday. My costumes are usually “meh” unless I have help. I suck at it. So, I get to […]
Like finely crafted wine, you can tell a lot by the fragrances of things, though in this case, a really groady cheese might be a more fitting analogy. Normally a wine’s bouquet refers not just to the first nostril impression of a particular grown-up grape juice, it also refers to the scent (or stank) it […]
I’m not a perfect person. But, I like to pretend to think I am… When we found out WE were pregnant (I LOVE that phrase), I decided I would be the best father to ever walk the face of the Earth. All men before me would pale in comparison and children would flock from all […]
“I gonna take dis gwass of water an’ pour it in dat bowl of dirt. Because… ya aaaaaaalways need mud.” -Lucas (2013, 5 years old) My cheeks cramped from smiling after he said this, but I kept watching with my spasmodic smirk as he happily turned dirt into mud with water, and my brow […]

We tend to celebrate and poke fun at our insecurities, failures and doubts as dads on this website of ours, ironically named HowToBeADad.com, a place you can count on to never really tell you how to be a dad. At all. So, it’s no surprise that we love and wanted to share the brilliant photo […]
In between the fun and filled-up diapers there are quieter moments in parenting. They hit you when you let your guard down. You’ll be tucking your kid in for bed or sitting on the couch watching your child watch one of your favorite shows from childhood. He’s laughing with you. You look at each other […]
After a person learns how to go by themselves, it’s like they’ve suddenly graduated and they’re left to figure out the rest on their own. But, besides kids learning to not have “accidents,” there’s way more to know about and avoid in the gentle art of going to the bathroom. Delta Faucet teamed up with […]
Last time, we described trying to get your kids to come home from the park. In other words, it’s basically insane. Today, let’s talk about having twins. Twins aren’t double the fun. They’re at least quadruple, based on all accounts. But imagine if they were sick. Trying get medicine and vitamins into kids is tough […]
