5 Symptoms of Having Kids

Posted under NOTEBOOK

Kids are a game changer, folks. Whether you read any other articles on here or not, it’s pretty obvious that kids will upend what you thought you knew. But what are some of the most common ways things can change? Is it all roses and sunshine? All poop-whiffed play?

Here are a few common symptoms for the heart infection known as kids!

1. Changes in Eating Habits

I’m not saying everyone is like this, but… man… things change. If you’re making your kids snacks or trying to stay awake, like I do, by eating — things just change.

2. You Can’t Be Tricked

You haven’t really been duped until you’ve had the rug pulled over your eyes, literally and figuratively, by your kids. Ha! NICE TRY, KIDS!

3. Just Kidding. You May Be More Naive.

Sleep deprivation, constant interruptions and the stress of it all can’t be helpful against mal-intent. Consider it a sort of tax you pay because you brought something awesome into the world. You’re just dumber now. A little bit.

4. Immunity To Questions

They say there are no stupid questions. That may well be true, but there are no questions at all if you’ve been answering them all day. Know what I mean? You can only take so many questions about life, science, math, writing, and every other possible thing. Thus, you may develop a sort of allergy or immunity, depending on your vaccination philosophy, to answering questions.

5. Losing Your Shit, On Occasion

It can be a little daunting, providing for and teaching and caring about your kids. Often at the same time. So, feel free to lose your shit, slightly and away from your kids if possible. It may help you chill out a bit. I know I d….asdfoqhwfqhrglkqhegl’kahdgl’khasdglfkhasd’f. There. I feel better now.

I’ve also gotten an immunity to screaming (to an extent).

When my babies were young…every cry, even of a child who wasn’t mine, put me on full alert.

Now, someone could be dying right behind me and I would block it out. I’ve just gotten so used to the constant boy noise.
