My Kid Just Farted… #57

Posted under "MY KID JUST SAID..."

5yo son: “Daddy, did you just fart!?”

Me: “No, I didn’t.”

Son: “THAT’S BECAUSE I DID! HAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Me and my son, Lucas (2015)

He’s become a fart whisperer. Or shouterer. He’s obsessed. I can’t really blame him. Personally, I can on occasion be like Willy Honka’s Flatulate Factory.

But I know it’s my fault, I just can’t help but laugh at his gasnanigans, so jokes about farts (and bodily functions) are low hanging fruit for him. Sure, they’re gross, stinky fruit that my wife keeps telling me to stop laughing at, but hey. I am who I am, right? Or whatever it is that I need to say to get me out of trouble. Hee hee!

See for yourself. Hard not to laugh.

  • The funniest thing about this is that it’s just as funny at 40 as it is at 5.

He loves watching me watch it because I laugh very time. I’m a total enabler. And I’m okay with that.

I’m the mom who laughs and gets told off by her husband for encouraging it.

We’ve all got our roles to play in the partnership of parenting. You just lucked out. 😉

So, I try really hard to turn away from my daughter when she farts so that she doesn’t see me laugh, the idea behind which is that we don’t want our kids to laugh at crude things, right?

But lately I’ve been thinking, do I WANT my child to live in world where farts aren’t funny? Where she is robbed of that wealth of hilarity? I’m 30, and under the right circumstances, I (and everyone I know worth knowing) still think farts are funny. I think I’m fighting a losing battle anyway, so we might as well get a giggle out of it now and again. 🙂

“Do I WANT my child to live in world where farts aren’t funny?” needs to be a t-shirt. Hahahahahahaha!

This is hilarious. Farts are funny. It’s hard not to laugh at them. My 2 year old will fart and say “uh-ho that was my butt”, she will also call people out. For instance, if I fart, she’ll say “uh-ho mommy”. It’s too funny.

They ARE funny. Your daughter’s reaction is priceless and has my full approval for forever.

Potty humor is a huge part of my (and my family’s) life. I love your son’s crazy eyes!
