Doing Pregnancy Announcements the Right Way

Posted under EXTERNAL USE ONLY

Getting pregnant is a huge moment, a monumentally momentous moment. It’s no shocker that some people got really clever with the way they decided to spring the news to everyone.

I never did anything particularly special for pregnancy announcements, but it makes me very vicariously happy to see (as you’re about to), that there are some pretty funny people out there doing some stupendously fun things with their Early Stork Air Raid Warning Systems.

I’m super curious, which one of these was your favorite? I’ve got my fave. Also, how did YOU announce your pregnancy? Emails? Phone calls? Texts? Skywriting??? Leave a comment or link to pictures below.

We just announced our next one with the Eviction Notice 🙂 Everyone loved it.

  • Lisa Webb says:

I quoted the line from Grease “I feel like a defective typewriter”!

That’s it. If baby no. 2 happens sometime in the future… I’m not announcing ANYTHING until I find Will Smith to hold up a sign.

  • Pat Jacobs says:

We surprised all the grandparents on baby #2… on video! http://youtu.be/dyhm8lCjXQg

We also used name tags for the photo announcement.

  • For “TheNextOne” (due in Feb.) we used this vid… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oasqjPHpxyI

I only remember the card for my Dad for TheFirstOne, it read “I will no longer call you Dad. That’s my name now…”

My favorite above is the eating and drinking for two. 🙂

LOVE Ice Ice Baby!!! That is funny! I don’t however like the naked man with his wife, that is beyond creepy!
No announcements from me, hopefully someday..

  • Susanne says:

I asked my sister if she was going to need her pregnancy clothes and if not, if I could borrow them!! She said I could and was so thrilled and then 2 weeks later phoned me back telling me that she would need them after all. Her youngest (of 3) and our eldest (of 3), both girls were born a week apart. It was wonderful…that was 19 years ago!

My family is part of a medieval recreationist group. We study medieval history and try to recreate the better parts of it. Last weekend we dressed up as early Norsemen (Vikings) for an event, and used the opportunity to make our announcement:

When my mother found out she was pregnant with my younger sister (1963) , she contacted my father who was on board a submarine and could not be spoken to directly. She had the Navy send him a message “The rabbits name was Fluffy, the funeral is Saturday”

  • Beautiful moments!

  • Kenny says:

We didn’t tell anybody our surrogate was pregnant in case something went wrong with the pregnancy. People were quite shocked when we left for Thanksgiving vacation baby-less and returned from vacation 4 days later with twins.

  • sam-c says:

I like the ‘drinking for 2’ next to ‘eating for 2’ one the best. not overly posed, but still to the point and funny.
My husband made a shirt for our first son that said “she ain’t heavy, that’s my brother” – I made him put “or sister” on the back.
my husband used that (?) expression before for other things so he thought it was funny. I thought it was awful after figuring out where it came from.
none of this mattered cause no-one ever got it. they kept asking us, ‘what does his shirt say?’

  • Baby Names says:

These pregnancy announcements are creative and amazing, I like The Tables have Turned!
