Beware of Bad Parentexting

Posted under SNAPSHOTS

The days have passed when VCRs blinked 12:00 as a signal to one and all that technology had gotten ahead of its owner and they didn’t know how to set the clock. Ironically, this is a timeless theme, though. Cavekids probably rolled their eyes under their jutting brows as they watched their parents use a newly-invented stone wheel as a pot for a plant.

There’s now an endless sea of technological advancement that can drown the understanding of older folks, much to their offspring’s dismay. Texting has some perfect and often hilarious examples.

Technicapped

Parents can seem pretty handi-incapabable with the miracles of modern technology.

Auto-incorrected

It happens to ALL OF US, but when it’s from a parent to their kid, it should be called auto-inappropriate.

Just fondle it.

Acronimrod

Laziness or character-limits have brought us mass acronymization. Some folks just don’t get it or stubbornly refuse, possibly resentful of learning English again as abbreviated codes.

In addition to acronyms, there’s a whole language of symbols that can be misunderstood to great humorous effect.

Um, It’s Me…

In today’s fast-paced world who has time to make sure they’re texting on the right thread? Oh god.

So, beware of bad parentexting. Educate yourself. Learn from the mistakes of others. Or just laugh. Honestly, I’ve sent and received several text fails, but I’m actually kind of jealous of the yikes-level some of these achieve. I love laughing at my own fails.

Bad parentexting may not result in confusion or cause alarm every time, but it’s always hilarious! For someone.
