Parent Operation the Funny Game of Skill and Patience and Frustration

Playing this game could seriously teach parents some vital skills in raising their kids. First and foremost: PATIENCE. Followed by the close 2nd: the ability to tolerate sudden startling noises.

There’s probably a whole grab bag of other useful parenting traits to be gained or honed in playing this updated version of the classic kids’ game; practical things like strategy, budgeting, a steady hand, remembering to keep batteries well stocked, etc. But mainly it’s just the patience and the noise thingy.

For anyone who grew up under a rock and isn’t familiar, here’s a look at the original Operation game.

It’s harder to qualify for a driver’s license than to become a parent, so it’s pretty common to feel like you really should have been required to spend years at some special school or internship when they handed over the itty bitty bundle that is your newborn.

But nope. We all just learn as we go, by way of lots and lots of fail buzzers that very often make our hearts skip a beat. Some of us try to fake the calmness and certainty of a surgeon, the rest of us just try to become brave and silent like a DMV driving examiner.

PARENTOPOLY!
Like the board game Monopoly, but not a board game and played for a lifetime, actually and not seemingly.

Despite the fact that it seems I spend all my time on these, I do actually have a day job.
