Parenterms: “Caughter”

Funny Parenting Terms Caughter Laugh Coughing

Uncontrollable laughter happens often when kids are present. They can be very suddenly entertaining.

Sure there’s the “spit take.” We’ve all seen it in movies even if we’ve never done it. Something outlandish is said or something outrageous happens and then someone sprays like a geyser in response. It’s funny but a little unrealistic. Especially for mess-minded parents. –“Clean up on aisle EVERYWHERE!”– No thanks.

We try not to allow our pie hole to become a blow hole for comedic effect. So, when our kids ask if unicorns have penises or if Aunt Edna’s wig had a name or something crazy and random and hilarious, we suck it up. Into our lungs. And cough the consequences. Caughter.

  • Yeah, that’s roughly the response I had when I took my then-3-year-old daughter to the restroom at an eating establishment, and while waiting for her to use the toilet, she says out of the blue, “Daddy, boys have a penis and girls have a ‘gina.”

    Me: “Yes, that’s right, honey.”

    Her: “You’re a boy.”

    Me: “I am indeed.”

Her: “Daddy, I love your penis. Do you love my ‘gina?”

Me: [Caughter]… “Yes, honey, but penises and vaginas are private, so we don’t talk about them when we’re out, OK?”

I’m very glad no one from the vice squad was working that particular bathroom.

LOL, I once had a geyser experience in a Pizza Hut. My sister said something funny and I had just taken a drink of my soda…. Yeah. My mother was sitting across from me. She got a Pepsi shower….she didn’t see the humor, go figure?!?
