My Wife Just Said… #131

“We need to develop a hand signal that says: it’s not you, I’m just on my period.” -Elizabeth

Yes please! We can take hand jive classes if necessary! Oh and I feel your pain! In a “I totally don’t actually feel your pain because I’m a guy and don’t menstruate” kind of way. Though, in all honesty, most men feel their woman’s pain vicariously, or as a result of it.

Such is life. Every month.

  • I think this could be amazing for everyone involved!

Well, we did baby signing with our son, which uses real ASL signs of course, and a few of them stuck because they’re so useful, especially when we need to communicate discreetly in social situations. Mostly in those cases we use “I’m hungry” “Lets go home” or “I have to poo”.

Anyways, the ASL for Menstruation is here: http://www.signingsavvy.com/sign/MENSTRUATION/1811/1

We used baby signs too! But your comment is the best! ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s a lot less embarrassing than saying it out loud.

Just get a period-specific piece of clothing. I’m a big fan of red pajama shorts/pants. When my husband sees them, he knows. It’s like magic. No words need to be spoken.

That’s actually a really good idea. But I want to do an experiment. Wear the red pants, but don’t tell him why. How long will it take him to equate the red pants with fear?

Flipping my husband off isn’t enough for him to know? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m sure that would come in handy for many couples! In my house there is NO question he knows, I am the one curled up crying and wearing a mask because I don’t want him to see me!

  • Jo says:

I find the “Don’t touch me, look at me, breath in my direction look” to be quite effective…your wife hasn’t mastered this yet?? ROOKIE!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOL! I love your posts. I can totally see how my husband feels through your blog. It’s adorable and funny and I totally feel sorry for you guys at the same time lol!
