“I married to Mommy.”

No no, being married is when a boy and a girl meet and decide to spend the rest of their lives together.

“Yes… I married to Mommy.” -Lucas (4 years old)

That is just too sweet. Stuff like that make ya want them to stay little forever, doesn’t it?!? What a cutie…

  • Kid has got it figured out.

  • Rinda says:

My son (3) says this all the time to me and my husband. (= Such a cute age.

  • Heather says:

My husband and I got married just before our son turned 2. Afterwards, he would always talk about “the day he and daddy married mommy.” So much so, that when our first daughter was born, he decided that we all needed to marry her, too. After girl #2 was born, we decided that we would renew our vows for our tenth anniversary. While he understands now that that’s not REALLY how marriage works, we love the idea and think it would be sweet for the girls and I to “Marry daddy” again.

My son tried to tell me he wanted to marry me when he grew up and was really disappointed to hear that I was already married to his dad.

  • Angela says:

Cameron asked me if kids could marry their Mom’s when he was little. I said “Yes!” LOL

  • Melissa says:

My nearly 4-yr old always asks if she can marry me, which is cool and all, but if I say “No, because I’m your mummy” it breaks her heart! *sigh* kids 🙂

    • Desiree says:

I always just told my girls that being someone’s child is the strongest bond in the universe. And that nothing and no one can break it.

  • Sometimes kids can be painfully honest– other times they can be so sweet like this. Thanks for sharing!

Amazing that at this age children understand the relationship between love and commitment or rather love and attachment. I think it’s fascinating and wonderful. I think it also shows that marriage might be more than simply a cultural ritual.
