Get Away, Go Play…

Sometimes, it’s awesome to remember that life exists outside the digital domain. It’s easy to forget. We’re all fighting battles against time and our responsibilities. And laundry. That bastard, laundry.

We don’t give advice on this website, but if we had to give one piece of wisdom? Get out and play.

Some memories aren’t meant to be photographed. They’re just meant to be experienced. Facebook and Instagram don’t deserve them (even though we made an entire video about this experience).

It’s time to put down the game controller, close the laptop, and get out of the house. It’s time to play. To fall. To discover what the world has to offer.

Make it epic.

Well this confirms you’re as rusty as I am getting back on a board which means we need to get out and suck at skateboarding together one of these days soon. Though you are getting some nice air on the photo above.

  • Nice. How fun that must have been to have the whole place to yourselves. Good stuff. Glad no Dads, Kids, or small animals were harmed in the making of this video. 🙂

Nice one! I love how Charlie pretended to fall. That’s the sign of a good actor–he made it seem like he did it on purpose!

  • I seem to remember this ad was for a car, but I came away wondering where I can get the cool scooters. And the funky yellow underwear Charlie was wearing. 😉

But seriously, I wasn’t much of an outdoorsy kid — and I’ve already taught my kid to love coloring and watching cartoons. This video reminds me to get out and do/try more stuff with him… while I’m still better than him at it!

    Great job, fellas.

Great video and great reminder. It is hard to turn off the devices but our parents seemed to get away with it, so why can’t we. Thanks for sharing.

That was awesome!! Lucky boys to have such fun dads!!

This part summed up my philosophy well:
“…its surprising that I’m not an absentee dad. I do make the time, and I basically just don’t sleep very much… you work in order to enjoy life, you have to make yourself enjoy it.”
Thanks for putting it so eloquently! If I don’t make the time to engage my kids, I’m only doing half my job.

  • Thanks for reminding me that life is not about the laptop or electronics.Time to get out and enjoy the outdoors!!!

…bastard laundry anyhow! This vid is perfection! Nice helmets guys! 😉 Love that you really got involved, you weren’t just sitting on your assets watching like some would…that’s important! Good daddies!!

  • […] we skated on and on together. And I kept having bad ideas. And we kept laughing and skating […]
