Happy Birthday Two Me

Testicle Cancer Birthday Balloons

Today is my birthday so I wanted to let you all know about the gift I really want this year:

Healthy. Balls.

That’s right. Today is the day my testicles were born, so I’ve decided to throw them a small, slightly egg-shaped birthday party. It’s a joint party, of course, so it needn’t be spectacular. It’ll be neatly trimmed with the barest of decorations. I’m hoping there will be a blowing of the candle and humming my birthday song, but honestly, I’m just glad they’re around.

IMAGE OF MY TESTICLES <-- REDACTED.

You see, testicular cancer is the NUMBER ONE CANCER IN YOUNG MEN AGES 15 TO 35. Did you get that? Should I repeat it? NUMBER ONE. Screw that. It’s time to act. We need to save the sacks.

Let’s make today a celebration. We should all be thankful and take this opportunity to celebrate the nut sacks in your life by visiting Single Jingles right now. They’re a testicular cancer awareness foundation. If you care about the testicles dear to you, you’ll bone up on this information.

I’ve been friends with my little buddies since I was a wee baby. I hope we never part. Sure, they’ve gotten in my way during key moments, but we’re the best friends that any boy could have, my balls and me.

dad-n-meMe and Dad four years before he died from cancer. Note my horrible facial hair.

Now, it would be cool to set up a shop that “checks out everyone’s nuts” and all that jazz, but Single Jingles has made it easier on everyone, and WAY less awkward. They provide awesome, easy-to-use shower cards that explain how to check for testicular cancer. Problem solved, moms and dads who don’t want to talk to their kids.

It’s man-up Monday. So, man up and share this post. Spread the word about how easy it is to detect this horrible cancer for my birthday. Kick cancer in the nuts. It doesn’t need them.

Happy Birthday Charlie, to you…and your balls. May you celebrate many many more together. Seriously, though. Good on you for talking about this, I’m sure there are many that won’t for one ridiculous reason or another (embarassment, nervousness, whathaveyou)… *fist bump*

  • Happy Birthday to you and your buddies, Charlie. And you rock for being straight up about this.

Happy Birthday! And high-five for this discussion. Guys are notorious for putting off their own health issues unti it’s too late- because they don’t want to talk about it or because they’re tough and it’s “nothing”. Also….”blowing of the candle and humming of the birthday song?” Dead.

Happy Birthday Charlie to you and ummm your buddies. I hope you get to keep them forever! Thanks for writing about this, I don’t see it written about ever and it is certainly very important!

Women have the month of February, and breast friends campaigns, ball players wear pink to save the ta-tas and Komen has done an amazing job promoting women’s health issues. Its all well deserved, and I support breast health full heartedly, but campaigns like Single Jingles and Movember are just as important (perhaps more so given men’s tendancys to avoid regular health check-ups and the alarming rates which testicular and prostate cancer hit men). So, happy birthday to you and yours, and good health for years to come!

p.s. thanks for redacting the photo. Aint nobody got time for that.
