Two Men Simulate Childbirth Contractions with Electrodes

Video footage of women in labor can be unsettling or disturbing to some, the same is true of footage of two cocky, Dutch guys trying to experience the miracle of childbirth by having electrodes strapped to their abs and simulating two hours of contractions.

In my opinion, this viral video is at least educational in a way. As a man it fascinated me, I’ve long wondered what it would be like. And this video certainly isn’t as bad or guilt-inducing as watching a clip on a home video TV show of some poor old guy doing an inverted swan dive on icy concrete. Who does that, by the way!?! Who says, “Oh yes. This one of Grandpa Orville breaking his hip will be hilarious once they edit out him screaming and swearing at me with old timey curse words to put down the dadgummit camera.” Anyways.

Let’s just watch it, shall we? Two young Dutch men simulating labor contractions…

Watching anyone in pain can be tough, though. For some it might be hilarious or amusing. Especially for moms. They might watch this and laugh gleefully or bitterly as they shake their head, knowing that these silly guys would also need to be experiencing the pain and effort of passing a golfball down the length of their penises if they were going even show up at the same ballpark as the Xtreme sport of childbirth. “Two hours!?” moms might growl, “Try 38 hours! With back labor, you sniveling wimps!”

I found it fascinating. Not fascinating enough for me to try it myself, of course. Fascinating as in being so thankful these guys did this video, so Charlie and I don’t have to.

I shared that video amongst a group of mamas a while back- we all agreed it was good to see a respectful look at the complete knowledge gap there. We may have giggled quite a bit, too…

I may have giggled, too, when I watched it. But it was a low manly giggle that attracted large birds of prey and monster truck tire salesmen. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wondered what the gaggle of salesmen and vultures was all about…

This blog is great! Keep up the good work!

10 days of early labor (that would speed up to 2-3 contractions a minute, but drop to one or two an hour every few hours or so). 7 hours of active labor.

2 hours would have been a mercy.

I think what these guys did was in some ways harder. I’m not bashing the pain a woman goes through, but their bodies prep them over a long time with braxton hicks contractions. These guys went in cold to the “real deal.”

Nice post, but that comparison with a golfball isn’t really fair…you should have gone with “melon” or American Football ball ๐Ÿ™‚

Holy smokes!!! I can’t believe how much they were laughing! I’m glad they did that, I had no idea such a thing was possible. Also now I know how many people film their births and put them on youtube(!!!!)just from the videos that came up when it was over! No such video of me will EVER exist!

I was in labor for 12 1/2 hours with my first and 7 with my second. They had it easy. I did feel bad for them, though… it sucks! I did find it funny that they were whining just five minutes in…It’s all worth it in the end though, I would go through it all again, I love my kids!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • James Hudyma says:

I love how they are all macho at first and then…

    • Andy says:

Yeah, that was pretty much my favorite part too. That moment when their laughter died down and started sounding insane. ๐Ÿ˜‰
