My Kid Just Said… #18

“NO, DADDY! You NOT take a picture of me aaaaaany more!”

Lucas-Papa-razzi

There is camera shyness, and then there’s ohpleasestopit-ness about being photographed or videoed. Some of us can really can be obnoxious Mama- and Papa-razzi with our kids.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with occasionally staging things so a picture looks better, or directing your kid to perform a re-enactment now that the camera is ready and rolling. However, maybe there’s a line we can cross””a crazy line””when we begin swearing under our breath at how long it takes for a photo app to come up on screen. Low-battery indicators should probably not result in panicked hyperventilation.

Hey! We love our little ones! To us, they’re celebrities. As their slightly deranged #1 fans, we can get easily swept up in capturing the moments. Every single one. Shot by shot. Or 30 at frames per second.

. _ . I’ve gotten angry at my camera up before, ha! Kind of sad, I’ve gotten better though. Heheh, now I try to catch him once in a while. 😛

  • Dana says:

My son is the opposite normally… He’ll say “Mama, you picture me.” LOL

Damn Straight! First month of my child’s life was documented with over 1k in photos. Now that he’s 5 and all over the place I really wish I had one if those head cams that records all your seeing so I could capture the shots I missed while keeping him from killing himself in the most creative was as any boy can do. LOL

My Son having turned 5 in January has gone through the stages of being a ham for the camera to looking away and saying no. During his first year or two I probably have taken thousands of photos. Last couple of years I’ve tried to do the same but with more resistance. 🙂

Sadly this is my now 14 month old… I took so many pictures of her as she grew, smiled, dribbled and ate that now when she sees the camera she whinges and turns her face away.. Oh how I long the days of the cute smile but I think I have ruined it.. for now..

It seems our boys, the youngest three anyhow, are quite fine with their picture being taken, UNLESS it’s a posed-for picture.

They don’t mind candid shots, or off the cuff snaps, but let us try to line them up for one nice photo….just ONE!!! Ugh, it takes an act of congress to get it done.

HA! Love the pictures. It probably does get pretty tiring hiding from paparazzi moms and dads after a while

  • Marisa says:

Sounds like he is figuring out what you do for a living. Smartie pants.

  • Mimi says:

My older son (3.5) usually yells “DON’T CHEESE ME!” when I start taking pictures, but always wants to see them once he hears the shutter sound. My 4 month old loves the iPhone. Yay for babies!

  • Olivia says:

I can relate to this. When both your parents are photographers the picture taking can get old fast. We have boxes upon boxes of every photo imaginable.

  • Evan says:

I think I may have more photos of my 3 year old than my parents actually looked at me over the past 30 years.
