My Kid Just Said… #3

Posted under "MY KID JUST SAID..."

“Daddy… Wet’s pway One-Two-Fwee, okay? OKAY! One! Two! NINE!”
-Lucas
(2011, 2 years old)

Games with young kids = their rules. It’s okay though, I fully expect to lose every game. Always. I lost, so what! At least he’s learning his numbers and I’m laughing my ass off.

    SO cute!

  • Nice! My little man is just about two, will be in a week, and he is constantly making up little games. His favorite game is when he counts to three and then jumps on my face and pummels me. Not sure where he learned it from, but I suspect Mama Bear put him up to it the first time and from there it just kind of stuck.

    • Andy says:

Ha ha! I think it would be so hilarious if Lucas started doing this to me that I would mind it. Ha ha ha ha ha! Okay, maybe I wouldn’t mind it as much. So cute.

  • Josh says:

BAhaha! My little sister used to do something like this. Her version of “One, two, three, GO!” was “One, one, one, one, (repeat as desired), SEVEN!!”

    • Andy says:

Amazing! I probably suck as bad at One-One-One-One-…SEVEN as bad as One-Two-Fwee. 😉

  • Heather B says:

Sounds like my 20 month old playing with his magnetic numbers and letters. He points them out and names them randomly – numbers are either two or three, always in order, never more or less. Letters have a few more options, but are also randomly assigned. Actually, colours follow suit – every first guess is blue, then green, then purple. Adorable anyways!

    • Andy says:

Ha ha ha ha ha! Awesome! I love it when they argue with you, quite sternly, that a colour, number or letter is one that it is not.

  • Amy B. says:

“No, it’s YUCKY and BEAUTIFUL!!!” – 3 year old.

  • Kippie says:

We spent Christmas with my parents. My 3-year-old wanted to play board games with Grandpa. That’s mildly complicated, because my dad is blind. They worked out a system, though. She would read Scrabble letters to him. Then she hauled out Tribond. He would hold up a card. “Is this a good card?” “Yes!” she’d exclaim. They kept this up for an hour. She made up rules for every game.

    • Andy says:

My brain is melting into my heart. Amaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.

      • Kippie says:

Yeah, my heart was melting watching it. 🙂

        • Andy says:

Perfect. Something is wrong in life if your heart isn’t melting on a decently regular basis. In my humble opinion.

  • H* says:

oh my god this is so cute!!!!!!!!!!

    Kisses from Barcelona

    • Andy says:

I hear Barcelona kisses are worth more than most other, so thanks! 😉

  • Christina says:

I LOVE this. He clearly knows what comes after two but chooses a different number!

My 2 year old knows his numbers and letters and I was convinced he was color-blind…until one day with my mother, he named all the colors perfectly for HER. When I got him home again and ask him for colors, everything is YELLOW!

They like to tease us as much as we like to tease them >.<

    • Andy says:

Ha ha! YES!!! I’m a designer so color is very near and dear to me, and since Charlie is partially colorblind, I’d recently been wondering whether Lucas is or if he’s just getting used to the words. We’ll see, I don’t really care, but I’m curious about it.

I CAN tell sometimes that something is “blue” just because he goddamn wants it to be! 😉

  • Aaron Smith says:

    My kid just said entry…?

Brayden, good job counting to eleven. Can you count 1 to 15?”
“Yep! One, two, fifteen! Hah hah hah!”

    • Andy says:

He’s a pro! Watch out, he’ll have you wrapped around his little finger in no time (if it hasn’t happened already). Ha ha!

  • Leyre Artiz says:

Me: “Darling, ask your grandpa how he feels”
Ane (almost 2 years): “Fine, thanks”.

  • Kati says:

We play this game called “Butta Face” its when you are out in public and you suddenly stop walking and yell Butta Face and one of the kids has to run into your butt..face first. Its midly disturbing to others, but hilarious to us.

  • Drew says:

My 2 1/2 year old when he was working on his numbers would go 1…2…3…8910! Now he’s reliably getting up to about 14, the he occasionally throws in an eleventeen, or numberteen.

    • Andy says:

Eleventeen may just be my favorite number. But numberteen is a new one on me and is rising fast in the charts for me. Ha ha! Amazing!
